Looking for a great Moms Night Out idea that can also benefit a new mommy in your moms group? Meal assembly centers are popping up all over the country and for good reason. Today's mom is strapped for time and wants to provide healthy meals for her family. Meal assembly centers make meal preparation totally easy, fun, and best of all they clean up your mess!
For just a few dollars (in some cases slightly more) per serving you can whip up meals for your family for a whole week in a little over an hour. Some meal preparation places will even save you the preparation time and have your meals ready for pick-up in exchange for a small fee.
For those that want to make the meal assembly experience a party, many locations will give you a significant discount or free meals if you get enough people to attend (in most cases about 10-12 attending). Depending on the owner, you might even be able to bring your own wine and your iPod to hook up to their sound system. You and your mommy friends can engage in great conversation and share lots of laughs while you prepare meals for your family in a relaxed atmosphere. Plus, if one of the moms in your group has just had a baby, each person could give one of their meals they prepared to the new mom.
When deciding on a meal assembly center there are a few factors you should keep in mind. Check out the center's website and if you can't get all of your questions answered there, give the owner or manager a call. First of all, cost. Most places will be in the same ballpark...every time I've gone, I've spent in the ball park of $150 for 6 meals serving 4-6 people. Also, find out if you are allowed to split meals. Since it is just my husband and me we only need 2-3 servings at a time so this question is a particularly important one for me. Don't forget to check out the menu. Make sure that their dishes are something you and your family might actually want to eat. If you have a large family there are more people to have to please. Some meal preparation stores offer kids menu items too.
Some of the larger meal preparation franchises are Let's Dish, Dream Dinners, and My Girlfriend's Kitchen. To find a meal preparation center in your area just enter your zip code at the Easy Meal Prep Directory.
